NEXTEL TARGETS HISPANIC MARKET IN EASTERN STATES

ELMSFORD, N.Y.—Nextel Communications Inc. said it expanded its marketing and sales initiative targeted at the Hispanic market to communities in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

Nextel said it’s new “Nextel. Ya.” Spanish-language advertising campaign will launch today in New York with a new theme, “Life can change in a second.”

The wireless provider also said its New York, New Jersey and Connecticut retail stores would offer dedicated toll-free Spanish-speaking customer care and telesales operators. It is also seeking additional bilingual dealers for its products, the carrier said.
